Description

Following the war in 2023, 40,000 children in Gaza lost their fathers, and in some cases both parents, and now find themselves without protection or stable role models.

In response to this humanitarian emergency, the Humanitarian Relief Foundation is leading a major project: the creation of an integrated protection and education center for 400 orphans aged 3 to 10.

Project objective

To provide a safe home and comprehensive support that promotes the protection, well-being, and development of children, in order to enable them to rebuild their lives and build a more stable and dignified future ( ).

Area of intervention

The project will be implemented in the Gaza Strip, as close as possible to the communities most affected by the conflict, where orphans are exposed to major risks of marginalization, lasting trauma, and deprivation of fundamental rights.

An educational and protective center

The center will include:

  • Four kindergarten classrooms and eight primary school classrooms.
  • An activity room and a library.
  • A medical clinic and a psychological support room.
  • A kitchen and dining hall to provide adequate daily nutrition.
  • A teachers’ room, an administrative office, and storage spaces.
  • Full sanitary facilities.
  • An inner courtyard with a garden and a secure playground.

Overall project budget

The total cost of the project is CHF 250,000, broken down as follows:

  • Construction work: CHF 150,000
  • Sanitary facilities: CHF 10,000
  • Electrical work and lighting: CHF 6,000
